Sofia Matsi is the Executive Director of the Cyprus Environment Foundation. For the past 10 years she has been involved in environmental work in Cyprus working across a broad spectrum of activities including: Founding and volunteering for a local environmental grassroot organization, training and consulting in sustainable agriculture and Permaculture systems and working on environmental policy supporting the work of a member of the parliament for four years.
Since 2021 she has been leading the work of the Cyprus Environment Foundation engaging in fundraising activities, identifying and assessing projects and reporting on their impact. She is also currently pursuing her PhD in Ecology and Biodiversity at the University of Cyprus, with a concentration in regenerative agriculture, investigating novel Carob agroforestry systems suitable to arid and semi-arid conditions and climate-change adaptive. Sofia is passionate about any outdoor experience and loves hiking, running, cycling and kayaking.
