Maria Alexiou studied Law in Athens, Greece and specialized in human rights and civil liberties in international and European law in Leicester University, U.K. She is member of the Athens Law Bar and Chair of the Board of Directors of CSR Hellas, a non- profit-making business association representing more than 150 companies both large and SMEs (2012, www.csrhellas.org). Maria is also serving as member of the Board of Directors of CSR Europe (2018, www.csrweurope.org) and she is leading the Market Leaders’ Hub for Just Transition. Since 2020, Maria has joined EFRAG, the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (www.efrag.org) as an expert first to study best practices in reporting sustainable business models and linkages with risks and opportunities (EFRAG Lab PTF RNFRO), while in 2021 joined the EFRAG Project Task Force for the European Sustainability Reporting Standards focused on SMEs. Maria has also served as CSR Director at TITAN Group (2003 – 2019) and is active volunteer for HIGGS, (www.higgs.org), Organization Earth (https://www.organizationearth.org) and ETERON (https://eteron.org).
